Adverbs of Frequency
กริยาใน Present Simple มักจะใช้กับคำแสดงความบ่อย เช่น
always เสมอ often บ่อยๆ
seldom ไม่ใคร่จะ,ไม่บ่อย usually โดยปกติ
occasionally บางโอกาส rarely น้อยครั้งนัก
sometimes บางครั้ง,บางที hardly ไม่ใคร่จะ,เกือบจะไม่
never ไม่เลย
hardly ever แทบจะไม่เลย ( = almost never )
1. โดยปกติ เราวางคำดังกล่าวหน้ากริยา Present Simple ทั่วๆไป แต่จะวางไว้หลัง is, am, are, can, must, may, should ฯลฯ
He often comes to see us at weekends .
เขามาหาเราบ่อยๆ ในวันสุดสัปดาห์
They always get up early .
พวกเขาตื่นแต่เช้าเสมอ
I sometimes have milk for breakfast .
บางทีผมก็ดื่มนมเป็นอาหารเช้า
แต่ He is often late for work .
เขามาทำงานสายบ่อยๆ
There are always a lot of people at the bus stop .
มีคนมากเสมอที่ป้ายรถเมล์
You must always listen to the teacher .

2. ในประโยคปฏิเสธ often,always ฯลฯ จะอยู่หลัง not (-n’t)
He doesn’t often come to see us .
เขาไม่มาหาเราบ่อยนัก
They don’t always get up early .
พวกเขาไม่ได้ตื่นเช้าเสมอไป
He isn’t often late for work .
เขามาทำงานสายไม่บ่อยนัก
3. ในประโยคคำถาม often, always, sometimes ฯลฯ จะอยู่หลังประธานเสมอ
Do you always walk to work ?
คุณเดินไปทำงานเสมอหรือ
Is he often late for work ?
เขามาทำงานสายเสมอหรือ
และอย่าลืมว่า คำแสดงเวลาปัจจุบัน เช่น at present, at the moment, these days, nowadays ฯลฯ ล้วนสามารถใช้กับ Present Simple ได้ทั้งสิ้น
People use a lot of computers these days/nowadays .
หมู่นี้ ( ปัจจุบันนี้ ) คนใช้คอมพิวเตอร์กันมาก

คำแสดงความบ่อยหรือคำแสดงเวลาอื่นๆ ที่เป็นกลุ่มคำผสมกันเช่น
every day /month/year
( ทุกๆวัน/เดือน/ปี )
twice a day /a month/a year
( สองครั้งต่อวัน/เดือน/ปี )
during the summer/the winter
( ระหว่างฤดูร้อน/ฤดูหนาว )
in the morning/the afternoon/the evening
ตอนเช้า /บ่าย /เย็น
คำเหล่านี้โดยปกติจะวางไว้หลังประโยค ( ยกเว้นเมื่อต้องการเน้น ก็อาจวางไว้หน้าประโยคได้ )
I wash twice a day .
ผมอาบน้ำวันละสองครั้ง
She washes her clothes in the morning .
เธอซักผ้าในตอนเช้า
In the afternoon she irons them .
พอตอนบ่ายเธอก็จะรีดผ้า
On Sunday mornings we go to church .
ทุกวันอาทิตย์เช้าเราไปโบสถ์
